We have two primary ways of working with clients: - Consulting Project: With this type of engagement, we define the scope, timeline, deliverables, and cost (fixed-fee) up-front so that the clients know exactly what they will receive. This approach works well in addressing a specific or strategic issue and removes uncertainty in terms of expectations and costs.
- Retainer Relationship: For a situation in which a defined scope project does not work so well due to uncertainties about the effort involved, we can establish a retainer which locks in our cost over a period of time in exchange for a commitment of time and effort. This approach works well for situations in which it is difficult to estimate the exact scope of a project, such as for execution. It enables clients to receive our commitment to their needs (for a fixed fee), with the ability to scale effort out at a variable cost. People often refer to this working relationship as the "hired gun model." Some clients work with us on this basis as a sounding board or for ongoing implementation efforts.
